Pro football player Michael Vick has been severely injured in a Pit Bull attack while attending a family gathering in Philadelphia. The athlete is reported to have several lacerations on his arms and legs and lost the thumb on his right hand as a result of the attack.
A spokesperson for the family has confirmed that Michael Vick was feeding hotdogs to a pet Pit Bull at a BBQ picnic party when the dog mistakenly bit his hand. The athlete is being treated at a local Philadelphia hospital, and is expected to undergo surgery to repair the damage.
The detached thumb was not recovered and is believed to have been ingested by the dog. No charges have been filed, and the incident is being treated as an accident.
